Friday Five

Happy Friday! It's been a while since I rounded-up my favorites, so let me update you on a few things that have been on high rotation in my life lately:

If you have a library in your city, I highly recommend you to reach out and see if they have a mobile app available. The Austin Public Library  system has a free app available called "Overdrive" and it's quickly made it's way to one of my favorites on my phone. Overdrive lets you rent audiobooks and e-books for free straight to your phone using your library membership. It's seriously the best thing ever if you're an avid reader/audiobook listener or need somewhere to start!

I'll admit that it's taken me a while to hop on this train, but I've been watching a lot of House of Cards lately. I'll say it's 50% because of the plot of the show, 40% because I needed a new Netflix series, and 10% because I missed Scandal and I kind of pretend that Olivia Pope exists in the same world as the Underwoods and will pop-up at some point. Whatever the breakdown may be, it's kept my attention long enough to get me to the second season so I think I'll stick this one out.

Remember this Instagram when I told you I'll pretty much make anything my friend Katie tells me to make? She suggested I start making overnight oats for breakfast in the mornings and it's introduced me to a whole new world of possibilities. I like having a routine so oats every morning works really well for me and I can switch-up the toppings as much as I please. My favorite toppings so far have been: almond/peanut butter, fruit (always), cinnamon, and a dash of honey. Any other suggestions I should try?

I finally got a new phone case for my iPhone 6 and I'm loving it! I totally copied my friend Fer who has the same case in coral, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? If you're in the market for a new phone case, you can find it here.

5. Calligraphy

For the past few months I've been really toying with the idea of learning calligraphy. I've always had good handwriting and my ideal night consists of arts and crafts (and maybe popcorn and wine). I follow a few calligraphers on Instagram and have been slowly picking-up some supplies and practicing my hand at it. It's way harder than it looks, but I think it's a lot of fun. I'm considering buying myself a ticket to a calligraphy workshop in June so I can get even better. What day is "treat yo' self" day again? I think Tom and Donna would approve.

That's all for this week - have a fantastic weekend!

  1. You should totally take up calligraphy! You'd be great at it!

I love that iPhone case! And good to know about Overdrive! Happy Friday!

  2. Kristen! Definitely take a calligraphy course if you can - I took one last summer and loved it. You'll be great at it too <3

    1. I really want to! I always get nervous when I make purchases like this, but then I remember that spending money on new experiences is often the best way to splurge!
