Embracing Curls

{image}
Summer in Dallas gets hot. We're talking 90-100 degrees hot. And when it's that hot, using a blowdryer, straightener, or a curling iron is pretty much the last thing you want to do.

For a lot of you lucky ducks out there, this might not be a huge problem, but I get really self-conscious about my naturally curly hair. It's either too curly, too frizzy, or just plain out of control and I've never felt comfortable letting it go without styling it in some way (hence the absurd number of teacher buns I sport).

Yesterday, I decided to be brave and let my hair dry on it's own. I didn't have anywhere I needed to be, so it was the perfect opportunity to give my hair a test-run. The verdict: I actually kind of liked it! It was weird to get used to, but rocking my curls forced me to feel more confident and more comfortable in my own skin. I'll definitely be working to embrace my curls more as the summer goes on.

Do you have any weird hang-ups when it comes to your hair? I know I can't be the only one with hair insecurities! What is it for you and how did you combat it? Do you rock "natural" hair or do you feel incomplete without a blow-out? I'd love to know!

xxo, Kristen
