Friday Five {Let's Work Out}

So, I've been on a bit of a fitness kick lately. Sometime around Novemeber I signed-up for the Dallas Rock N' Roll Half-Marathon knowing my training would start just in time to sync-up perfectly with New Year's resolutions. I've done a pretty good job of sticking to it and am now less than a month away from my first Half!

All of that being said, most days are still a serious struggle. It's so hard to motivate yourself when you're exhausted after a long day of work and a season of Scandal your couch is calling your name.

My secret to keep myself motivated? Cute workout clothes. Yes, I know I can wear a ratty t-shirt and old gym shorts to workout, but it is so much less fun. And honestly? I work 10x harder if I feel good while I do it and workout clothes can give me that extra confidence boost. (C'mon, you know you do it too!)

Here are a few fitness pieces I'm eyeing as I conquer my last few weeks of training!

Zella is a brand that has been tearing-up the fitness fashion scene. I've seen pieces popping-up on a few blogs here and there and finally had to check it out for myself. I've been looking to add a pair of fun, patterned pants to my collection and these guys fit the bill. Perfect for hitting the mat or the trail.

I'm currently running in a pair of Nike Free 3.0's and I love them. I got them after my dad raved about them and they're still going strong 10 months later. I've worn over 70 miles in them and they still feel good as new! I got mine in orange and blue ('Ray Bucknell), but this black and white version is so clean and classic. If you're looking for a new pair of kicks, I highly recommend these!

This sports bra looks like it'd be perfect for a Vinyasa Flow class. You might not have enough support for a jog, but you could definitely rock some down dogs in this puppy. I love the detailing on the back and think it adds the perfect accent to any workout outfit.

I have a good number of American Apparel tanks from sorority events in college and they're by far my favorite shirts to work out in. They're so comfortable and soft. I'm thinking I might need to add a few new ones to my collection.

There are few things as frustrating as having hair in your face when you're sweaty and tired. I found this out the hard way on some of my longer runs and have been desperate for a running headband ever since. My friend Taylor has this Lululemon headband and always looks great while wearing it, so obviously, it was my first choice when picking one for myself. Now... the only question is, what color should I get?

Doesn't looking at all of these workout clothes just make you want to get outside and get moving? I tell ya, there's nothing like a new addition to your fitness wardrobe to get you excited about going to the gym!

Do you have any workout gear you love? If so, please share! I'm always on the lookout for fun new pieces to keep me motivated.

xxo, Kristen

  1. Workout wise- I 100% suggest you try out Pure Barre! I've been doing it for 2 months now (various new client packages help financially too) and I am obsessed. I go every day, and I find myself motivated to make time in my schedule for it, which is not something I usually do for running.

    As for workout clothes, I just got the long Lululemon luon wonderunders and I wear them with everything- boots and chambray, big cozy sweaters and of course, work out clothing. My favorite place for tops right now is Gap Body. They have the cutest tops and long sleeves for far better price points.

    Loved this post! Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. I had a barre studio in Fort Worth that I loved, but haven't joined one in Dallas yet. I think we have a Pure Barre, so I'll have to check that out!

      I LOVE the wunder unders. I have the cropped and long versions and wear them both at least once a week. I had no idea Gap Body was such a gold mine. I'll definitely be checking out their selection this weekend!

      Thanks for the comment and the tips!
